I really love preparing sushi and rolls at home, and to prepare them, in addition to other ingredients, you need salmon or trout. The most profitable option is to buy fresh, chilled, unsalted red fish in the form of steak or fillet and salt it yourself at home. How to salt salmon so that it turns out tender and tasty? I will reveal some secrets for salting this fish.

Previously, we bought ready-made lightly salted salmon in vacuum packages in the supermarket, because… Initially, I didn’t have any luck with salting this fish – it turned out tough and tasted completely different than store-bought. But, in order to save money, I nevertheless decided to look for the ideal option for salting salmon. It turned out that the ratio of salt and sugar is of great importance. Moreover, sugar plays a big role here – thanks to it, the fish turns out to be more tender in both consistency and taste. I take salt and sugar in a 1:1 ratio.

So, I offer the simplest and fastest recipe for salting salmon at home.

Ingredients for salting salmon:

Recipe for salting salmon:

1. Mix the required amount of sugar and salt.

2. Rinse the cooled steak or fillet and dry with a paper towel.

3. Pour a certain amount of a mixture of sugar and salt into the bottom of a glass or enamel bowl or pan, and also rub the fish on all sides with salt and sugar.

Cover with a plate or lid and put in a cool place for about a day.

4. In a day the salmon is ready! You can make sushi, canapés or salads with it.

If desired, and depending on your taste, add black pepper or dill sprigs during the salting process.
